King’s Acupuncture has been practicing in Buffalo for over 30 years. Three years ago, we changed our name to King’s Acupuncture and Wellness Center to better reflect the range of our services. Today, not only do we offer acupuncture, but also reflexology, nutritional supplements and herbs. In 2008, we are broadening these services further for our patients.

In January, we took our first steps toward achieving this goal - we invited a chiropractor and a massage therapist to join our existing staff. We are excited to announce that Dr. Buscaglia, a seasoned and well respected chiropractor, and Ms.  Defabbio, licensed massage therapist, will join the clinic on March 1st.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Buscaglia, D.C. and Ms. Defabbio to King’s Acupuncture and Wellness Center.

Congratulations to Dr. Herbert Kwong Yee Lau, owner of King’s Acupuncture and Wellness Center at Transit Valley Plaza in East Amherst

Dr. Lau was elected to be the Vice President of the proposed Upstate Chapter of the New York Acupuncture Society on May 23, in a general meeting of the Society held at Seneca Falls, New York. The reasons he wants to be an executive officer of this non-profit organization are (1) to lobby for higher insurance reimbursement rates for acupuncture treatment of No Fault and Workman’s Compensation cases, (2) to educate the public regarding the difference between Licensed and Certified Acupuncturist in terms of training, (3) to preserve the integrity of our 3,500 year old healing skill from exploitation by under-trained health providers practicing our profession, (4) to raise the awareness and visibility of the acupuncture profession, and (5) to expand Acupuncture educational opportunities in Upstate New York and to foster communication, collaboration and a sense of community among acupuncture practitioners in Upstate New York.

In April 2004, Dr. Lau was awarded the highest recognition, a Diplomate in Chinese Medicine, by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He had been awarded a Diplomate in Chinese Herbology as well as a Diplomate in Acupuncture by this nationally accredited agent. To be a licensed Acupuncturist in New York, one needs only the qualification of a Diplomate in Acupuncture. A Diplomate in Chinese Medicine encompasses both the Diplomate in Chinese Herbology and the Diplomate in Acupuncture, plus requirements in Biomedicine, body work, diet and/or exercise. Dr. Lau is proficient in Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbology, Diet/Nutrition, Massage, Exercise, Meditation and Western Medicine (he was formerly Laboratory Director of Quest Laboratory and UB Clinical Instructor).

For years, he has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Buffalo Chinese Christian Church. In April he was elected to be the Chairperson of Project 99, a committee with the responsibility of finding or building a new church to accommodate the growing needs of the Buffalo Chinese Christian Church.
